Pre – English for Academic Purposes – (Pre-EAP)

This course is designed to prepare students who want to study English for Academic Purposes and runs several times a year or when required.  There are 3 modules and each module lasts for 5 weeks, minimum 20 hours per week.

Entry Requirements

To be accepted into Pre-EAP 1 and 2 students will have a minimum English level of:

  • IELTS (Academic) overall score of 5.0 with 5.0 in writing
  • Milton College placement test (Intermediate)
  • Milton College General English course or IELTS Preparation program (Intermediate)

To be accepted into Pre-EAP 3 students will have a minimum of

  • IELTS (Academic) overall score of 5.5 or
  • Milton College placement test (Upper Intermediate)

Pre-EAP teaches language skills needed to succeed in an academic setting. This course provides the basic requirements leading from General English to English for Academic Purposes.

Module 3 is a stand alone module and is an intensive grammar and writing program which assists students who need to strengthen these skills.

Pre - English for Academic Purposes (Pre-EAP) prepares students for study in Australian higher education and vocational institutions. The Milton College Pre-EAP course

  • Uses a communicative, task and text-based approach to prepare students to do well in their chosen field of study.
  • Trains students to understand the Western academic thinking style, the expectations of lecturers and tutors and the conventions and structures used at higher education and vocational education providers
  • Enables students who complete the course successfully to enter a variety of courses offered by higher education and vocational education providers without having to sit an IELTS test.
